Deputy Sheriff Zackari Parrish, 29

December 31, 2017 – Deputy Zackari Parrish was shot and killed during an ambush-style attack after responding to a domestic disturbance call. The suspect fired over 100 rounds that also wounded three other deputies and two citizens. A SWAT team was called and entered the apartment. An officer with the entry team was wounded during a second round of gunfire from the suspect. The gunman was shot and killed during the exchange with police.
Deputy Parrish is survived by his wife and two children.
Trooper Michael J. Anson, 56

January 2, 2018 – Trooper Michael Anson succumbed to cancer he developed while assisting in the search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attack.
He is survived by his wife, three children, and brothers.
They closed a section of I-25 for the funeral procession for Deputy Parrish yesterday. Thousands of vehicles, including a fire truck from our tiny volunteer fire department, and two counties away, joined the motorcade.
Lord, protect our Thin Blue Line regardless of the country <3
