Weekend Road Trip: Pikes Peak Writers Conference

The 2008 Pikes Peak Writers Conference was held in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is a fabulous conference with wonderful workshops. As an added bonus, the setting is spectacular. The program for mystery writers was excellent. My friend, Vickie Lewis Thompson, and Carol Berg delivered two inspirational and entertaining keynote speeches. I also had the opportunity to rub elbows with author Stephen Coonts. Stephen Coonts and I will also be at the 2009 Emerald Coast Writers Conference in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Author Donnell Bell was kind enough to pick me up at the airport, take me to lunch, and then drive me around to see the sites. One of the scenic places she took me was a private home in the hills that had some truly amazing metal sculpture in the front yard.

Author Terry Odell makes her way to one of the many workshops during the conference.

Deputy Sheriffs Gordon Carroll and Mark Ortiz were on hand to teach workshops on weapons. Both deputies are authors.

Hey Terry, it’s great to put a face to the name – and consider, my mug isn’t included because I don’t have your alibi 🙂
