Friday's Heroes - Remembering the fallen officers

The Graveyard Shift extends our condolences to the families of these brave officers.

Detective Michael Morgan, 32

Newark New Jersey Police Department

November 7, 2011 – Detective Michael Morgan was shot and killed outside a nightclub when two suspects attempted to rob him and a dancer from the club. The suspect shot Detective Morgan as he reached for his weapon. The detective was off duty at the time of the shooting.

After a 48-hour manhunt, Jerome Wright, 24, and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Nashali Gadson, were arrested in a Philadelphia-area hotel. They were both charged with Detective Morgan’s murder. Wright has been arrested numerous times for drug and weapons offenses and is a known member of the Seven Nine Trey Bloods. Gadson had been previously arrested for assault and robbery.

Police used this surveillance photo to help identify the killer.

Officer Daniel Clark, 49

San Bernardino California Police Department

November 3, 2011 – Officer Daniel Clark, a 25-year veteran and narcotics recognition expert, was in a foot pursuit when he received an injury to his ankle, an injury that required surgery. Thanks for remembering these officers and our veterans. Life keeps us so busy and caught up in our own stuff, it’s far too easy to take for granted what they do and/or have done.
