Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?
I wonder if you’re lonesome tonight
You know someone said that the worlds a stage
And each must play a part.
Now the stage is bare and I’m standing there
With emptiness all around
And if you wont come back to me
Then make them bring the curtain down.
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?
*Are You Lonesome Tonight lyrics ~ Elvis Presley
Kathy – I had no idea of the release date. Now you have me hearing the Twilight Zone theme.
Let’s see in 1960 I was 8 years old. I don’t remember hearing the song when it was new lol. I only remember it as an “oldie”. What I remember as new were The Beatles. I grew up with them and graduated in 1970 the year they broke up. Sort of the end of an era for them and me. Thanks for sharing those gorgeous pictures. I looked online and the song was released on Nov 11, 1960. That’s why you chose it I guess.
Sorry, Dana, that’s all sand. Denene and I just left the beach (Sunday afternoon at 4pm) and it was sunny and 74. We carried our chairs, two books, a couple of soft drinks, and then enjoyed a peaceful afternoon with the pelicans. We’re not in Alaska where it’s 40 below in July… 🙂
Do my eyes deceive me or is that snow?
Awesome pictures, Lee. I’m bookmarking them to look at when the Jersey winter with snow hits us again.
Elvis Presley, Lee? *g*
Myself, sunset on 11/11/11 I was grading the exams of my college students. (U.S. History) Looks like you were having a WAY better time.
Lonesome on beaches like that isn’t so bad.
You reminded me of how old I am. I was on a junior high chorus trip when I first heard that song. Egads!
Great pix.
Close to home, wish I had been in Montauk (it’s the end…of Long Island, really the very end).
Further way, man, I wish I was on Key Largo. Anywhere on Key Largo.
But now, I was at my puter doing a final read through of my next to be released novel GOODBYE NOEL, a classic Christmas themed murder mystery.
Lee, those are stunning photos. What a beautiful place.
Sigh….I love Elvis. Great pics, Lee. Tybee Island’s about 4.5 hours from me. Would make a great weekend trip. Now you’ve got me thinking…
You really have found the perfect spot. 🙂
These were taken on Tybee Island, Ga.
Great pictures, Lee. Wish I was on Hatteras Island, which your pictures remind me of–bet it’s warmer there too!
