Weekend Road Trip: The California Coast
California is one of my favorite places in the world. The drive along the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to Carmel is simply breathtaking. Since we’re getting more snow this weekend here in the suburbs of Mayberry, I thought it would be nice to visit good old California again, even if it’s only a photographic visit.
Paul – Then you should recognize this scenery, because that’s the exact same Sunday drive we were on when we took these photos! They’re not in any particular order. In fact, the sunset picture is of Half Moon Bay, which is closer to San Francisco, where we started.
Lee,
Fantastic photos, thank you. I once drove from LA to Santa Barbara along the coastal route.
Regards
Paul
SZ – Take advantage of it. You can see we all miss it!
Gwen – Yeah, I’m pretty homesick for that area, too.
I used to live on the Central Coast of CA, and I miss it daily. Thanks for the beautiful reminders.
San Francisco is having a lovely day today. I am headed to LA in a few weeks, perhaps I will take that drive this time instead cutting down the middle. Great shots Lee.
queen – We’d love to post your Oregon photos. Send them to us when you’re ready. Ah, Nags Head, another of my favorite places. We posted some Nags Head pictures on Weekend Road Trip a while back.
Beautiful pictures, Lee. I love the ruggedness of the coastline. I have pictures of the Oregon coast I should send you. I tell everyone it’s not like most of our ‘domesticated’ east coast beaches.
Ahh…Spring. With over 2 feet of snow on the ground it seems a l-o-o-ng way off. I have a sunrise picture from the beach at Nags Head, NC for the desktop on my laptop. I can at least dream.
I go to a site that has several beach webcams for my battle against the snow-bound blues. I hope that in the not too distant future, I’ll be able to just look out the window for the same effect.
To some day …
Pat – We got lucky and missed any real snowfall. Instead, we received sprinkling that’s already gone. Of course, we still have several inches left over from the last storm.
My desktop image is a photo of a summer sunset in Ocean City, Md. But today Ocean City is probably blanketed in snow, too. I’m so ready for spring!
Thanks, Lee. I really needed this with 18 iches of snow on the ground and another snowstorm on the way. I may just hang out here and enjoy the nice warm view.
Do I need to tell you I have a beach scene on my computer and an ocean picture pasted above my desktop? Looking forward to wonderful, wonderful Spring.
