Friday's Heroes - Remembering the fallen officers

Investigator Michael J. Walker, 32

Pearl Mississippi Police Department

May 1, 2012 – Investigator Mike Walter was shot and killed as he and other detectives attempted to serve warrants on a man for sexual battery of a minor and possession of child pornography.

The man was hiding in a bathtub and resisted arrest as the officers attempted to restrain him. The suspect opened fire when an officer used his Taser in an effort to subdue the combative man. Investigator Walter was shot in the face and two other officers were wounded. One of the wounded officers returned fire and killed the subject.

Investigator Walter, a former professional baseball player, leaves behind his wife, daughter, and parents.

Deputy Sheriff David Wargo, 39

Maircopa County Arizona Sheriff’s Office

May 1, 2012 – Deputy David Wargo succumbed to injuries he received nine years earlier when a car hit and dragged him through a supermarket parking lot. The driver was attempting to flee when he struck Deputy Wargo.

Deputy Wargo is survived by his wife and three children.
