Sea of Sunset

Sea of sunset

This is the land the sunset washes,

These are the banks of the Yellow Sea;

Where it rose, or whither it rushes,

These are the western mystery!

Night after night her purple traffic

Strews the landing with opal bales;

Merchantmen poise upon horizons,

Dip, and vanish with fairy sails.

    Well, I’ve been posting these Weekend Road Trip photos for years, hoping someone could use at least one of them as inspiration for setting.

    I’ve only recently re-discovered how wonderful and image evoking poetry can be but these pictures are so striking that I begin to understand a little just how evocative settings themselves can be to the creation of poetry itself. Thanks for sharing. I love standing on shores (lake, river levees, ocean) and letting my imagination roam as to where the current or tide might take me if I simply found a worthy vessel and let myself drift a bit.
