Friday’s Heroes: Remembering The Fallen

Officer Evan Burns, 28

August 16, 2011 – Deputy sheriffs were in pursuit of a stolen SUV driven by a man wanted for assault. As the chase grew close to his location, Officer Evan Burns deployed spike strips in an attempt to stop the stolen car. The fleeing driver, in attempt to avoid the strips, struck one patrol car, injuring the officer, and then rammed Burns’ vehicle, killing him.
Officer Burns is survived by his 1-year-old son.
