The Choking Game: Despair, Demise, and Dismay … in 45 Words
Factory
Massive, abandoned
Machinery, steel dinosaurs
Tangled debris.
Rust.
Rats
Shadows, graffiti
Glass, jagged shards
Footsteps echo.
Cold.
Hallway
Leather, squeaking
Keys rattle, jingle
Nervous, anxious.
Fear.
There
Hanging, swinging
Rope, rafter, neck
Boy, dead.
Twelve.
Shoes
One on
Other on floor.
The choking game.

When I was a kid another kid told me about something similar: pressing on your carotid arteries until you pass out (no sex involved). I thought it was the stupidest thing I’d ever heard and couldn’t believe people would do that for fun. Cases like this are tragic.
Despair is right! Are kids still doing this? Actually, my husband got a step up at work once because a guy senior to him died this way–an adult. Awful.
